The North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP) is
a partnership dedicated to helping local
authorities and their partners achieve efficiency and
improvement objectives, as set out in the North West
Improvement and Efficiency Partnership Strategy. The NWIEP
contributes towards the delivery of the North West's ambitious
local-area and multi-area agreements by commissioning and
co-ordinating support to drive improvement in public services
for local people.
We are achieving our objectives by organising activity and
investing resources across nine themes of activity, which are
delivered through a combination of local support from five
sub-regional partnerships and regional programmes delivered by
themed partnerships. The Department for Communities and Local
Government (CLG) has made resources available for the NWIEP to
help public sector organisations to help themselves improve and
become more efficient.

Our key focus is to support authorities to help themselves to
deliver better services for local people that are at an affordable
and sustainable cost.
The NWIEP will be working closely with local councils, police
authorities, fire and rescue services and the health authorities to
achieve the aims set out in our strategy, supported by the Government Office North West (GONW), Improvement and Development
Agency (IDeA), Audit
Commission (AC), 4NW, North West Regional
Development Agency (NWDA), the Homes and
Communities Agency Academy and North West Employers Organisation
(NWEO).
