What are RIEPs?
Led by councillors, Regional Improvement and Efficiency
Partnerships (RIEPs) are partnerships of local authorities working
together at regional and sub-regional level on shared improvement
and efficiency priorities, in line with the National
Improvement and Efficiency Strategy. The Strategy, published in
December 2007, sets out how central and local government will
provide the support that local partnerships will need to deliver
efficiencies and excellent Local Area Agreements.
RIEPs use local connections and local knowledge to help
councils, fire and rescue services and their partners to improve
services and become more efficient. The North West Improvement and
Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP) is the RIEP for the North West of
England.
