Communities Assets Enterprise - INSPIRING PLACES The Art of the Possible
Date: Monday, 13 September, 2010
Time: 9:00 - 16:30
Location: Derby,
Join us for the largest community enterprise event in the
calendar!
There is now just over a week until the DTA's National
Conference, which is being held in Derby from September 12 -
14th. We expect 500 community enterprise practitioners
and partners will attend to explore exciting new developments in
the field of community-led regeneration, learning from inspiring
examples of best practice and debating the issues currently
affecting us all.
This year, there will be
- workshops and seminars on community housing, transport, and
health and social care; asset transfer, sustaining local
retail, enterprise activity, and consortia working; routes out of
poverty, low carbon economies and buildings, a how-to session for
those who are considering setting up a development trust, rural
community enterprise, and much, much more.
- plenary sessions on what we really know about community; the
Big Society; the government's agenda for communities; and the
international community enterprise movement
- visits to a range of inspiring enterprises and community led
regeneration projects, and presentations from others from outside
the East Midlands
- and our own take on Dragon's Den!
In addition, this year, perhaps more than any other, the
conference will provide the space to present a strong united front
as a movement to Government, and to share our best knowledge and
forecasting about changes which will affect us all: the Big
Society; the Budget and the Localism Bill; the end of Regional
Development Agencies and the creation of the new Local Economic
Partnerships. There will be specific opportunities to do this
informally and during the Any Answers session on Tuesday and the
final plenary session.
On Monday 13th, Rob Hopkins, author of the Transition
Handbook and co-founder of the Transition Network, will welcome the
opportunity to speak to you about building community resilience to
the implications of Peak Oil and Climate Change. For more details,
