VEHICLE PURCHASE FRAMEWORK

Background

This framework, overseen by Department for Work and Pensions, enables UK public sector organisations (PSOs) to purchase motor vehicles and light commercial vehicles by entering into call-off contracts with Suppliers. 
     
The framework has been let under the Public Sector Contract Regulations 2006 and has a duration of 4 years from 22 September 2006.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS OF FRAMEWORK

  • Broad range of suppliers (currently 16). 
  • Provides for call-offs to be made in the form of Contracts between a PSO and its selected Framework supplier(s).
  • No need to advertise for similar vehicle requirements in the Official Journal of the European Union (“OJEU”) and to run separate public procurement exercises.  
  • Money can be saved through “Badge Deals” - PSOs select one or more Suppliers to exclusively provide motor vehicles for the duration of a Contract. 
  • Your fleet profile can be run though the OGC Costing Model to demonstrate the best competitive prices and terms available to the public sector. 
  • Informed environmental decision-making - carbon emission data is provided for each type of vehicle. 
  • Leasing contractors can usually obtain eligible vehicles at Framework support rates on behalf of a PSO for the majority of suppliers.
