National News

The Excellence Continues

Financial Secretary to the Treasury, John Healey, has given his backing to the role of the Regional Centres of Excellence as the agents for transforming local government procurement.
He made his comments in a major announcement on the future role of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC). The OGC will be a smaller, more focused, higher calibre organisation that will drive transformation through central government, he said.
The Financial Secretary also recognised the important role of the RCE’s Procurement Programme and the major professional buying organisations (known as the Pro5) which are set to unlock millions of pounds from local government procurement by making excellent deals available to all local authorities.
Vist the HM Treasury website for more information and to download the document:

Top Cat!

The fourth edition of the national publication from the Regional Centres of Excellence - 'CATALYST' is now available -

The Heat is On!

A new initiative from the Regional Centres of Excellence is being launched and its message is clear – don’t go it alone when buying energy supplies.  This initiative is set to cut London authorities’ annual £160 million energy bill and is already paying off, as one London borough already anticipates saving over £300,000 on its gas and electricity bills.  To read more click here.

Diffuse the Confusion of Annual Efficiency Statements

Guidance has been provided to help local authorities to complete an Annual Efficiency Statement.  This builds on the Efficiency Technical Note for Local Government, developing its ideas and providing practical examples on how to measure and report efficiency gains and provide assurance that the gains are genuine.
