And the good work continues...Y3 Funding!
23 March 2010
We are delighted to announce that NWIEP has been
formally granted funding for Year 3.
The North West has received £8,036,250 of core funding.
Decisions on how these monies will be allocated will be taken at
the Strategic Forum on the 14th April - the decisions taken will
have a major impact on the Year 3 agenda and focus.
Detailed in the letter granting the funding is a series of
informal 'asks' around 'Innovative Procurement'. CLG would like
RIEP's to seek to encourage 'Innovative Procurement' that:
1. Secures a wider range of social outcomes from local
government spending, e.g. economic development and improving
workforce skills
2. Drives a more outcome focussed approach so that transformed
services better reflect the needs of the community
3. Enables SME's and the Third Sector to make a full
contribution to economic growth and development.
We will be working hard with our partners to ensure that we
achieve these outcomes and that all the money granted will be spent
where it is needed bringing genuine improvements and efficiencies
to the region.
The North West got a special mention in the letter for our
Interim Highlight Report and a request that the RIEP Programme
Office commend it "to the other regions as an example to learn
from." To read the Highlight Report, please click here.
