North West Improvement & Efficiency Partnership 2008/11

07 September 2011

Introduction....

Formed in April 2008, the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP) is a member-led partnership of all local authorities in the North West and their partners. The Partnership uses local connections and local knowledge to help councils, fire and rescue services and their partners to be masters of their own improvement and efficiency destiny, rather than be dependent on external regulators or central Government for the inspiration to develop and improve the region's public services.

It has now completed its three year programme and is in the process of transferring its work back into the sector.  This will signal the end of the successful life of the NWIEP.  It is expected to be completed by March 2012.

This report (over the six booklets) contains an overview of the last three years looking at the North West picture as a whole (efficiency, enabling, partnerships and climate change activities) as well as all individual key areas of activity: Cheshire and Warrington, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire.
