THE Office of Government Commerce (OGC) are developing a fleet strategy to on the foundations of work delivered during the spending review 2004.
The aim of this work is to provide the tools to enable the £5bn value of public sector fleet to be managed in the most effective way – this means working closely with users, suppliers, customers and decision makers alike, and through working collaboratively, changing for the better the way the public sector procures, manages and disposes of fleet in the future.
Along with maximising the use of collaborative deals, OGC are researching a number of areas where the views and/or involvement of local authorities would be welcomed; these are fleet management; spot hire; acquisition of commercial vehicles; vehicle standardisation; insurance; accident management; and disposals.
The Fleet Pilot has a dedicated team who are available to discuss, over the telephone or in person, how the Fleet Pilot could be of benefit, and how your organisation can help shape the future of Fleet in the public sector.
